OGP tackled Client Rep Standards & Training First

All of us who go down and come up the downline or supervise a dive job know: If you don’t have a client representative that knows his job, things can go south fast. The minute the first little thing goes wrong the pressure is on and the job can turn to crap!

The first notice I took of the OGP was this document: Diving worksite representative roles, responsibilities & training. Report 431 (see Attached below). My thought after reading it was: Damn I can think of a bunch of jobs gone bad and people who lost their lives, because the client rep. didn’t know his job. All it takes is a bad client rep. and a supervisor and diver that won't say NO! The OGP not only recognized the problem but realized it needed to be tackled first!

Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of good client reps out there. This class just improves your chances of having one on your job or becoming one, when your time is right. So far it is being taught in three places I know of around the world. The guys I know of who have taken it say it is of good value! (See Hot Links below)

A few words on the class from Larry Janick: "John many thanks for reaching out for feedback on the first OGP Work site Representative course in the US. The class was full thanks to BP, Exxon, Cal Dive and many others that paid their own tuition to be on the course.

The Coast Guard training standards group was in attendance the entire week. Several other USCG groups attended on various days ,covering things like; dive equipment and regulatory standards.

The week long class was calculated to have approx. 500+ years of experience in the room at any given time. The interaction within the group was very dynamic and all gained much knowledge (Instructors included) during the daily dialog. Some key words that all came away from the event with were competency, documentation, verification."

When my diving days are done I will be taking this Class! Soon, if you haven't taken it, you won't work as a company representative for an OGP member company!

Classes are held in these places:
