Cant log in

I think the new site is discriminating based on age Beau. All of us grey hairs are having problems. Young Mark has got to sort it out. I finally got logged on, but it makes me agree to a privacy policy every time I sign in. I think the site thinks I am losing my memory
2. This document is worth its weight in gold; hopefully this will help to reduce the number of incidents we see in underwater cutting. I notice that the majority of young divers are not at all comfortable cutting underwater; they believe that there was not enough training in this technique. I hope that IOGP takes note of this, and proceeds with the underwater cutting initiative that they started a few years back. I also notice that Francis gives the correct answer to each of the survey questions. Young divers would do well to read through this document. This is a great chance to learn from an old hand. Well done, Francis, on behalf of the industry - thank you sir.

Diver Check before entering...

Add to that helmet light tested, and for the standby, a rescue lanyard. And of course the internal checks, between the supervisor and diver: comms, b/o function, and confirm main gas off panel.
4. Bryan:

Would it be possible to see the results of your survey, with a view to making it public on the Divers Association website?

Thanks, and regards,

Commercial Diver Death Investigations

I would not stretch the English Language far enough to attempt to call either one of those pdf files an "inspection report". A brief look at the two of them tells you EXACTLY what value that these two organizations place on a diver's life. They might as well have just scribbled "he's dead - move on" on a sheet of paper. I think that you should get in touch with the media, John, like Dateline or 20/20 or one of the investigative journalists. It may be that OSHA and Coast Guard can be shamed into doing their job by the media.

The Shame of the Commercial Diving Business!

I can see ADCI keeping a tight lid on information surrounding a diving accident; they are an association whose mandate is to protect the diving contractor. Their mission statement is "safety through education", but in reality we can see where their loyalties are: "open another box of divers" and we'll hush this up. What stuns me is the position of OSHA and the US Coast Guard. America has had a reputation for years as the driving force behind product safety: the auto industry, aviation, and fire protection to name but a few. And the changes brought about by OSHA in mining, manufacturing, and construction were world leading. So why this position in the diving industry? Are diver's lives worth so little? And the fact that both OSHA and USCG take direction in their safety regulations from a contractors association is akin to consulting with plantation owners on whether or not to abolish slavery. This is a huge black mark on both organizations.
