ADCI Leadership Changes

Mike Brown will continue to be a force in Commercial Diving worldwide. He has just been appointed to the USCG; NATIONAL OFFSHORE SAFETY ADVISORY COMMITTEE: In the Seat reserved for Commercial Diving. The Divers Association would like to congratulate Mike and looks forward to working with him on Safety Issues.

Mike Brown, who was in his second consecutive term as ADCI President, is no longer with EPIC Divers and Marine, LLC. Unfortunately, since Mike represented EPIC’s seat on the ADCI Board of Directors, he is no longer eligible to serve as President.

The ADCI would like to wish Mike all the best in his new pursuits and want to thank him for his long standing service to the ADCI. Mike has served as ADCI President, First Vice President, and Gulf Coast Chapter Chairman in his years of ADCI involvement. He has been an active and ardent supporter of the ADCI and the commercial diving industry throughout his 37 years in roles as diver, supervisor, operations manager, and Vice President with Global Industries and EPIC Divers and Marine.

The ADCI will forever be indebted to Mike for his selfless contributions to the association and passion for safety.

The ADCI Board of Directors has ratified Craig Fortenbery (Mainstream Commercial Divers, Inc and ADCI First Vice President) to serve as President for the remainder of the elected term and David Reser (Infrastructure Engineers, Inc and ADCI Second Vice President) to serve as First Vice President for the remainder of the elected term. All positions for Officer of the Board will be up for election at U.I. 2014. All Officers of the Board must be a General Member and a Director in good standing.

Additionally, Billy Bratkowski (EPIC Divers and Marine, LLC and Chairman of the ADCI Saturation Diving Safety Committee) will be the new contact person for EPIC Divers and Marine, and will fill EPIC’s seat on the ADCI Board of Directors. Billy has served as the Chairman of the ADCI Saturation Diving Safety Committee since its formation in 2007. Billy is known throughout the offshore industry, and has always demonstrated a commitment to the ADCI and its mission. Billy will complement an already strong Board.

This Information was sent to further the communication of all industry stakeholders. Safety is the primary concern of the ADCI. Remember: a real-time Job Hazard Analysis is important, but nothing can replace good common sense.

Sincerely,

Phil Newsum

I hope that he will get off his seat and put some pressure on Roger O'Kane, Craig Fortenbery, and Phil Newsum to change ADCI guidance to stop allowing dive ladders on renewable energy projects.

Steve O'Malley would very likely be alive today had this been banned, and a LARS been mandatory.
