Yes we have had another Diver (not dead) blow himself up Oxy-Arc Burning! Broken Arm and Hat Screwed.
October 2010 the now IOGP, announced “OGP To Form Burning Task forceâ€. They did it and they chose to do it in a big way. 100 Subject Matter Experts on the task force: That quickly became a problem because they had no criteria for what makes a Subject Matter Expert: Let alone Oxy-Arc Underwater Burning Subject Matter Expert. There where many people on that task force whose sole purpose was to see that the OGP filed, well it has 5 years and not a successful class run.
Everything a diver needs to learn to be a safe effective burner is in the IOGP 471, as it is in The Devon Standard and Ocean Technology's Oxy-Arc Burning Course. The problem with IOGP's 471 Oxy-Arc Underwater Cutting Recommended Practice is: It requires the diver to learn things that they don't require those planning the job to know.
