US Gulf of Mexico Diving Safety Work Group Meeting &

DSW

Attended the US Gulf of Mexico Diving Safety Work Group meeting In Lafayette Louisiana this week. Great Meeting in all aspects, they get better each time. Any United States diving company that is not attending AND inviting their customers to attend is cutting their own throat!

This group is doing more to educate the diving industries customers then anyone ever has. At a minimum have your company sales staff down load the working groups publications on: Assessments on Underwater Lift Bag Guidelines, Underwater Burning Guidelines, Hyperbolic, Evacuation System Planning. Your company can use the excellent Risk Assessments, that are a part of each, to educate your customers: http://usgomdswg.com/PDFgallery.htm

Dennis Fahr of the Coast Guard NOSAC Committee let everyone know that there will be one more comment period; that the Coast Guard is pleased to have received so many good comments and that they are working hard to complete this round. Be ready for the next round it will be your last change! I attend these meetings also and Roat is correct. The DSWG members will soon consider expanding outside of the GOM and that is an idea I endorse wholeheartedly.

Communication is the key to SAFE DIVING! Be a part of the solutions - participate at every level you can and let's get everyone home whole after EVERY job.
